Steps to Polish Solid Surface Countertops:

1. Clean the Surface

Wash the countertop with warm, soapy water to remove dirt and grease.

Rinse and dry thoroughly with a microfiber cloth.

2. Sand Out Scratches (If Needed)

For deeper scratches or dull areas, wet sand with 320-grit sandpaper (for deeper marks) followed by 400-grit and 600-grit for smoothing.

Always sand in a circular or back-and-forth motion with light pressure.

Keep the surface wet while sanding to avoid creating new scratches.

Wipe away residue and check for smoothness.

3. Apply Polishing Compound

Apply a small amount of automotive polishing compound or a solid surface-specific polish (like Novus #2) to a microfiber cloth.

Rub in small, circular motions over the sanded area until the surface starts to shine.

For larger areas, use a random orbital polisher with a polishing pad for even results.

4. Buff to a High Shine

After polishing, buff the surface with a clean microfiber cloth to remove excess compound.

For extra shine, use a high-gloss plastic polish or a final pass with Novus #1.
